Rockford Pocket Watch

This is an antique pocket watch by Rockford Watch Co.

The Rockford Watch Company, located 93 miles from Chicago on the Rock River, began operation in 1873 using equipment purchased from the Cornell Watch Company. After some financial difficulty, closed their doors in 1915.

On the face, it's number using the standard hours. It also has the seconds marks 1 through 60. This type of face is called a Montgomery Dial, which features marginal minute design.

The hands of the clock are black with a blue iridescence.

The dial is glass enameled double sunk.

The movement is housed in a yellow gold filled case.

The back plate has some scroll-work design. The inside of the back plate is engraved, "Guaranteed Twenty Years Philadelphia Watch Co. 8317075."

Hangs in a Single Albert with Drop.

The watch is in good condition. It works and appears to keep time. The case has scratches. The inside of the back plate has some nicks or deeper scratches. It needs some careful cleaning.
